Error Correction Activity

Well, it’s exam time again and I don’t seem to have a lot of time for researching and writing new blog posts. So, here’s a quickie activity on error correction, which I prepared this time last year! Below, you’ll find three ppts of some of the typical grammatical mistakes my students make when doing writing tasks. I usually go through them in class, getting the students to identify the problems in pairs, before clicking through to the solutions. You could probably do this activity with intermediate … ish students.

Important note : bear in mind that these mistakes are ‘typical’ of Catalan/Spanish-speaking students and are often the result of L1 interference. Depending on where you’re teaching, they may not be of much use to your students.
